Manchester United has a rich history, with a significant number of achievements and notable events. The club has won more trophies than any other club in English football, with a record 20 Premier League titles, 12 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and a record 21 Community Shields. Internationally, the club has also won 3 UEFA Champions League titles, 1 UEFA Europa League, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

Club Identity

The club's crest has been altered on a few occasions, but the basic form remains similar. The badge is derived from the crest of the city of Manchester. The devil on the club badge stems from the club's nickname "The Red Devils", which was adopted in the early 1960s after Matt Busby heard it in reference to the red-shirted Salford rugby league side.

Manchester United's traditional kit colors are red, white, and black. The team's home kit is red, which has been the case for the majority of the club's history. The club's away kit has changed regularly, with white or blue being the most frequently used colors.

Stadium

Old Trafford, also known as the "Theatre of Dreams" by Bobby Charlton, has been the club's home ground since 1910, except for an eight-year absence from 1941 to 1949, when it was bombed in the Second World War. During this period, the club shared Maine Road with local rivals Manchester City.

The stadium's current capacity is 74,879, making it the largest club football stadium (and second largest overall after Wembley Stadium) in the United Kingdom. Old Trafford underwent several expansions in the 1990s and 2000s, including the addition of extra tiers to the North, West and East Stands, almost returning the stadium to its original capacity of 80,000.

The rivalry with Liverpool is rooted in competition between the cities during the Industrial Revolution when Manchester was famous for its textile industry while Liverpool was a major port.
