Early Life

Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York City. He is the fourth of five children born to Frederick Christ "Fred" Trump (1905–1999) and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump (1912–2000). His siblings are Maryanne (born 1937), Fred Jr. (1938–1981), Elizabeth (born 1942), and Robert (1948–2020). Trump's older brother Fred Jr. died in 1981 from alcoholism, which Trump says led him to abstain from alcohol and cigarettes.

Education

Trump attended the Kew-Forest School from kindergarten through seventh grade. At age 13, he was enrolled in the New York Military Academy, a private boarding school. In 1964, he enrolled at Fordham University. Two years later, he transferred to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in May 1968 with a B.S. in economics.

Business Career

Trump's business career began at his father's company, Elizabeth Trump and Son, which focused on middle-class rental housing in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. He worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son, while attending the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and in 1968 officially joined the company. He was given control of the company in 1971 and renamed it The Trump Organization.

Presidency

Trump announced his candidacy for president of the United States in 2015, and became the official Republican candidate in 2016. He won the election on November 8, 2016, and was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States on January 20, 2017. During his presidency, Trump implemented significant tax cuts, rolled back numerous regulations, appointed three justices to the Supreme Court of the United States, and oversaw a period of significant economic growth until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Post-Presidency

After leaving office on January 20, 2021, Trump returned to his business pursuits and continues to play a significant role in American politics. He has not ruled out the possibility of running for president again in the future.
