History
Xerox Corporation is an American global corporation that sells print and digital document products and services in more than 160 countries. Xerox is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut (having moved from Stamford, Connecticut, in October 2007), though its largest population of employees is based around Rochester, New York, the area in which the company was founded. The company purchased Affiliated Computer Services for $6.4 billion in early 2010. As a large developed company, it is consistently placed in the list of Fortune 500 companies.
Products and Services
Xerox produces an extensive line of digital printing and multifunction systems, including color and black-and-white printers, digital press, copiers and other devices. They also produce workflow software, such as Xerox DocuShare, and offer business services. The company's services include document management, managed print services, workflow automation and communication and marketing services.
Research and Development
Xerox has a well-established research and development arm, known as the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). PARC has been responsible for a number of significant technological breakthroughs, including the development of the graphical user interface (GUI), the computer mouse, and the Ethernet.
