The different areas of web design include web graphic design, interface design, authoring, including standardized code and proprietary software, user experience design, and search engine optimization. History

Web design has a fairly recent history. It can be linked to other areas such as graphic design, but web design can also be seen from a technological standpoint. It has become a large part of people’s everyday lives. It is hard to imagine the Internet without animated graphics, different styles of typography, background, and multimedia.

Web Graphic Design

Web graphic design is a critical component of web design. It involves creating visually appealing elements that help enhance a user's experience on a website. This can include images, logos, layouts, and other visual aspects of a site. Web graphic designers often work closely with web developers to ensure that the visual design of a site aligns with its technical capabilities.

Interface Design

Interface design focuses on the design of user interfaces for software, such as web browsers and web applications, with the goal of maximizing usability and user experience. The key principles of interface design include simplicity, consistency, visibility, feedback, and tolerance for errors. Interface designers often work closely with user experience designers to ensure that the interface is easy to use and meets the needs of the user.

Authoring

Authoring in web design refers to the process of creating content for a website. This can include writing text, creating graphics, and coding the website's structure and layout. Authoring also involves ensuring that the website is compatible with various browsers and devices, and that it adheres to web standards for accessibility and usability.

User Experience Design

User experience design (UXD or UED) is the process of enhancing user satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction between the user and the product. User experience design encompasses traditional human–computer interaction (HCI) design and extends it by addressing all aspects of a product or service as perceived by users.[2]

Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un-paid ("organic") search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.
