Viacom International Media Networks
Overview
Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) is an international division of ViacomCBS Networks International, itself a division of ViacomCBS. It was established in 1987 following the acquisition of MTV Networks Europe by Viacom. The network oversees the production, broadcasting and promotion of key ViacomCBS brands outside of the United States. These brands include MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon and Paramount Network, among others.
History
Viacom International Media Networks was originally known as MTV Networks International (MTVNI) until 2011. The company was created in 1987 when parent company Viacom bought Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment, which at the time owned MTV and Nickelodeon. This led to the creation of MTV Networks Europe, which was then renamed MTV Networks International in 2004.
Brands and Channels
Viacom International Media Networks operates several brands and channels worldwide. These include:
- MTV: An entertainment brand targeted at young adults. MTV is known for its reality television shows, music-related programming and youth culture-oriented content.
- Comedy Central: A cable and satellite television channel that carries comedy programming, both original and syndicated series.
