Shanghai Disney Resort
Overview
Shanghai Disney Resort is a themed resort located in Pudong, Shanghai, China. It is the first Disney resort in mainland China and the second in Greater China, after the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The resort opened to the public on June 16, 2016.
History
The planning for the Shanghai Disney Resort began around 2001, and the official announcement came in 2009. The resort was a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group, a state-owned enterprise of the Pudong New Area government. The construction of the resort began on April 8, 2011, and the grand opening was held on June 16, 2016.

The Shanghai Disney Resort is divided into several themed areas, each with its unique attractions, dining, and shopping options. These areas include:
Mickey Avenue
Mickey Avenue is the first main entry at a Disney park, inspired by the playful personalities of Disney cartoon characters. This avenue is home to various shops and restaurants, and it's where guests can meet Disney characters.
Gardens of Imagination
Gardens of Imagination celebrates the wonders of nature and the joy of imagination. Guests can enjoy attractions like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and a Fantasia Carousel.
Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland is a futuristic area with attractions like the TRON Lightcycle Power Run, a high-speed roller coaster, and the Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue, a shooting game.
Treasure Cove
Treasure Cove is the first pirate-themed land in a Disney park, inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. The area features the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, a boat ride that uses a combination of physical sets, screen projections, and multimedia effects.
Adventure Isle
Adventure Isle is a mysterious land filled with ancient legends and mysteries. Here, guests can explore the Roaring Rapids or Soaring Over the Horizon attractions.
Fantasyland
Fantasyland is the largest of all the lands in Shanghai Disney Resort, inspired by Disney's classic animated films. It features the Enchanted Storybook Castle, the largest Disney castle, and other attractions like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight.
Toy Story Land
Toy Story Land, the first expansion of Shanghai Disney Resort, opened on April 26, 2018. It is inspired by the Disney·Pixar film series Toy Story.

Transportation
The resort is accessible via the Shanghai Metro Line 11 Disney Resort Station. The resort also offers a Disney Resort Shuttle for guests staying at the resort hotels.
