Rubeus Hagrid
Early Life
Rubeus Hagrid was born on December 6, 1928, to Mr. Hagrid, a human, and Fridwulfa, a giantess. Hagrid's early life was marked by tragedy when his mother left while he was very young, and his father died when he was only twelve. Despite these hardships, Hagrid developed a strong sense of loyalty and a love for magical creatures, traits that would define his character in the years to come.
Education at Hogwarts
In 1940, Hagrid began his education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was sorted into Gryffindor house. During his third year, he purchased a young Acromantula, which he named Aragog, in a pub in Hogsmeade. This purchase would have significant consequences for Hagrid's future at Hogwarts.
Expulsion from Hogwarts
In his third year, Hagrid was accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets, resulting in the death of a student, Myrtle Warren. The evidence against Hagrid was his possession of Aragog, a creature capable of killing a human. Despite his pleas of innocence, Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts. His wand was snapped, and he was forbidden from performing magic.
Career at Hogwarts
After his expulsion, Hagrid was allowed to stay at Hogwarts as gamekeeper and later became the Keeper of Keys and Grounds. Despite his expulsion, Hagrid retained a strong loyalty to Hogwarts and its headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. He lived in a hut on the school grounds and had many responsibilities, including tending to the magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest.
Role in the Second Wizarding War
During the Second Wizarding War, Hagrid was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, an organization dedicated to fighting Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters. Hagrid participated in several battles, including the Battle of the Astronomy Tower and the Battle of Hogwarts. Despite facing great danger, Hagrid's loyalty to his friends and to the cause of defeating Voldemort never wavered.
Personality and Traits
Hagrid is known for his loyalty and kindness. Despite his large size and somewhat intimidating appearance, he has a soft spot for all creatures, magical or not. His love for magical creatures, particularly dangerous ones, often leads him into trouble. However, his bravery and dedication to his friends make him a beloved character in the wizarding world.
Magical Abilities and Skills
Hagrid possesses a number of magical abilities and skills, despite his expulsion from Hogwarts and the snapping of his wand. He is particularly skilled in dealing with magical creatures. His knowledge of magical creatures is vast, as is his ability to care for them. He also has a certain amount of magical skill, as he is able to perform spells with a pink umbrella that is believed to contain the fragments of his broken wand.
