Pico Duarte
Overview
Pico Duarte is the highest peak in the Caribbean region, located in the Dominican Republic. The mountain is part of the Cordillera Central range, the largest range in the Dominican Republic and the island of Hispaniola. Pico Duarte has an elevation of 3,098 meters (10,164 feet) above sea level, making it a significant point of interest for hikers and mountaineers.
Geography
Pico Duarte is situated in the province of San Juan, in the western part of the Dominican Republic. The mountain is part of the Cordillera Central, which extends from the southwestern part of the Dominican Republic into the northwestern part of Haiti, where it is known as the Massif du Nord. The Cordillera Central is characterized by its high elevations, with several peaks exceeding 2,500 meters (8,202 feet), and its rugged terrain.
Geology

Pico Duarte is located within the José Armando Bermúdez National Park, which was established to protect the mountain's unique ecosystems.
