Early Life
Pedro Pascal was born as José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal on April 2, 1975, in Santiago, Chile. His parents, Verónica Pascal and José Balmaceda, were Allende supporters and were involved in the opposition movement against the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet in Chile. Due to the political climate, his family sought asylum in Denmark before moving to the United States when Pascal was a child.
Education
Pascal attended the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) and later studied acting at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. He graduated in 1997, having honed his craft in the university's prestigious drama program.
Career
Pascal began his acting career on stage, performing in various Off-Broadway productions. His first television role was in 1999, on the popular crime drama series Law & Order. However, he gained widespread recognition for his role as Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones.
Pascal's portrayal of the charismatic and revenge-driven Prince of Dorne received critical acclaim, and his character's shocking death in the series was one of the most talked-about moments in television that year. Following his stint on Game of Thrones, Pascal landed the lead role in Netflix's Narcos, where he played the real-life DEA agent Javier Peña.
