Military College of South Carolina
History
The Military College of South Carolina, commonly known as The Citadel, was established in 1842. It is one of six senior military colleges in the United States. The institution was founded as part of a state initiative to establish a military presence in Charleston, South Carolina, and to provide a disciplined educational environment.
