Manco Capac
Early Life
Manco Cápac, also known as Manco Inca and Ayar Manco, was the first governor and founder of the Inca civilization in the 13th century. According to Inca mythology, he was a son of the sun god Inti, and his sister was Mama Ocllo. They were sent to earth by their father to teach the people the ways of civilization.
Founding of Cusco
Manco Cápac is credited with the founding of the city of Cusco, which became the capital of the Inca Empire. According to legend, Manco Cápac and his siblings were given a golden staff by their father, Inti, and were instructed to find the place where the staff would sink into the ground, indicating fertile soil. After a long journey, they arrived at the location where Cusco would be established.
