Lenny Kuhr
Early Life
Lenny Kuhr was born on February 22, 1950, in Eindhoven, a city in the province of North Brabant in the southern Netherlands. She was the second of four children in a Jewish family. Her father was a tailor and her mother a housewife. From a young age, Kuhr showed a deep interest in music, often singing at family gatherings and school events.
Career
Kuhr's career began in 1967 when she won the national song festival in the Netherlands with the song "De troubadour". This win led to her representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969, where she shared the first place with three other countries. This was a significant achievement, as it was the first time in the history of the contest that there had been a four-way tie for first place.
In the 1970s, Kuhr continued to release music, with a focus on folk music and songs with a message. She released several albums during this period, including "De zomer achterna" (1972), "God laat ons vrij" (1974), and "De wereld waar ik van droom" (1975).
In the 1980s, Kuhr shifted her musical style to include more pop elements. She released several successful albums during this period, including "Dromentrein" (1980) and "Het beste van Lenny Kuhr" (1982).
In the 1990s and 2000s, Kuhr continued to release music and perform live. She also started to write her own songs, often collaborating with other artists. In 2005, she released the album "Stemmen in de nacht", which included songs written by Kuhr and other Dutch artists.
