History

King's College, located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, was established in 1946 by the Congregation of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame. The founders of the college were Reverend James Connerton, Reverend John Lane, Reverend John Reynolds, and Reverend James Lackenmier, who also served as the first president of the college. The college initially offered programs in the arts and sciences, business, and education. In 1970, the college established the McGowan School of Business, named after William G. McGowan, an alumnus and founder of MCI Communications Corp. The college has since expanded its offerings to include a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
