Kangwon National University
History
Kangwon National University (KNU) is a South Korean national university located in the city of Chuncheon, a city in Gangwon Province in eastern South Korea. The university was established in 1947 as an agricultural college, offering a three-year course. It was the only national university that was established in the province of Gangwon during the country's first republic.
In 1951, during the Korean War, the university was forced to close down. The campus was used as a training ground for the Republic of Korea Army. The university reopened in 1952, but it was moved to the city of Seoul due to the ongoing war. It was not until 1957 that the university was able to return to its original location in Chuncheon.
Academics
Kangwon National University is a comprehensive and research-focused institution, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Campus
The main campus of Kangwon National University is located in Chuncheon, the capital city of Gangwon Province. The campus is situated in a scenic area surrounded by mountains and rivers, providing a conducive environment for learning and research. The campus houses all the colleges, research institutes, administrative buildings, student dormitories, and other facilities. The university also has a second campus in Samcheok, a city on the eastern coast of Gangwon Province.
