Career
Fournier began his career as a cartoonist in the 1960s. His first published work was a comic strip for the French magazine Pilote. In 1969, he was chosen to continue the Spirou and Fantasio series after the departure of its original creator, Franquin. This was a significant achievement for Fournier, as Spirou and Fantasio was one of the most popular comic series in Europe at the time.
Fournier's tenure on Spirou and Fantasio lasted for 10 years, during which he wrote and illustrated 9 albums.
