History
Hyde Park Academy was founded in 1863 as Hyde Park High School, making it one of the oldest public high schools in Chicago. The school was initially located in a small building on 56th Street and Kenwood Avenue but moved to its current location on Stony Island Avenue in 1910 due to the growing student population. The school was renamed Hyde Park Academy in 1966 to reflect its expanded curriculum and focus on academic achievement.
Academics
