Hitotsubashi University
History
Hitotsubashi University, known as Hitotsubashi or Hitodai, is a prestigious national university located in Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1875 as the Commercial Training School under the direct control of the Ministry of Finance, it has a long history of providing education in the fields of commerce and management.
In 1887, the school was renamed the Tokyo Commercial School and began offering higher education courses. It was elevated to a university in 1920 and renamed Tokyo University of Commerce. In 1949, it adopted its current name, Hitotsubashi University, after the location of its main campus.
