Overview
The Haas School of Business (also known as Berkeley Haas) is the business school of the University of California, Berkeley. Established in 1898, it is the oldest business school at a public university in the United States. The school is named after Walter A. Haas, a 1910 Cal alumnus and former president of Levi Strauss & Co.
History
The Haas School of Business was first established as the College of Commerce of the University of California in 1898. The college was renamed in honor of Walter A. Haas, Sr., a 1910 Cal alumnus and former president of Levi Strauss & Company, in 1989. The renaming was in recognition of a generous endowment gift from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund.
