Erb Memorial Union

History

The Erb Memorial Union (EMU) is a student activity center located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, United States. The EMU was named in honor of Donald M. Erb, a former University of Oregon student who was killed in action during World War II.

The original building was constructed in 1950 and has since undergone several renovations and expansions. The most recent renovation, completed in 2016, expanded the building's footprint by 80,000 square feet and added several new features, including a craft center, a bike program, and a multicultural center.

Facilities and Services

The EMU houses a variety of facilities and services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. These include several dining options, a bookstore, a bowling alley, meeting and conference rooms, and offices for student organizations and university departments. The EMU also hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year, including concerts, lectures, film screenings, and cultural celebrations.

Dining

Bowling Alley

The EMU's bowling alley, known as the "EMU Games Center," features several bowling lanes, pool tables, and video games. The Games Center also hosts tournaments and other special events throughout the year.

Meeting and Conference Rooms

The EMU houses several meeting and conference rooms that can be reserved by students, faculty, staff, and outside groups. These rooms vary in size and are equipped with audio-visual technology.

Student Organizations and University Departments

The EMU is home to offices for several student organizations and university departments. These include the Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO), the Student Activities Board, the Multicultural Center, and the Craft Center.
