Eliot Horowitz
Early Life and Education
Eliot Horowitz was born and raised in New York City. He developed a keen interest in computers and programming from a young age. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Brown University, where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science.
Career
After graduating from Brown University, Horowitz began his career as a software engineer at DoubleClick, an internet advertising company that was later acquired by Google. At DoubleClick, he was instrumental in developing and managing the DART (Dynamic Advertising Reporting & Targeting) system, which was one of the first online advertisement serving systems.
In 2007, Horowitz co-founded ShopWiki.com, an internet shopping search engine. As the CTO of ShopWiki, he led the development of the site's web crawling and data extraction algorithms.
In 2009, Horowitz co-founded MongoDB Inc., formerly known as 10gen, with Kevin P. Ryan, his former colleague at DoubleClick. MongoDB Inc. is a software company that develops and provides commercial support for the open-source NoSQL database MongoDB. As the CTO of MongoDB Inc., Horowitz played a crucial role in the development of the MongoDB database.
