Geography
Edison is located in the northeastern part of New Jersey, in the heart of the Raritan Valley region. It is part of Middlesex County and is situated approximately 30 miles southwest of New York City. History
Edison's history dates back to the 17th century when European settlers first arrived in the area. The town was originally part of Piscataway Township and was known as Raritan Township until 1954, when it was renamed in honor of inventor Thomas Edison, who had his main laboratory in the Menlo Park section of the town.
