Chandler Bing
Early Life
Chandler Muriel Bing was born on April 8, 1968, to Nora Tyler Bing, a romance novelist, and Charles Bing, a cross-dressing burlesque star. He hails from an affluent family, with his mother being a best-selling novelist and his father owning a Las Vegas drag show. His parents divorced when he was nine years old, an event which deeply affected him and led to him using humor as a defense mechanism.
Education
Chandler attended an all-boys high school, where he first met his future friend Ross. He later attended college with Ross, where they were roommates. During college, Chandler and Ross formed a band named "Way, No Way", with Chandler on vocals and Ross on keyboard.
Career
Chandler started his career in data processing and spent a large part of his career in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration for a multinational corporation. Despite his success, he was always unsatisfied with his job, often complaining about it to his friends. In season 9, he quit his job to pursue a career in advertising. He started as an unpaid intern but eventually secured a full-time job.
Personality
Chandler is known for his sarcastic sense of humor and bad luck in relationships. He often uses humor as a defense mechanism, a trait he developed in his childhood due to his parents' divorce. Despite his sarcastic nature, Chandler is very loyal and caring towards his friends.
Relationships
Chandler's most significant relationship is with Monica, Ross's younger sister. They first became friends when Monica became Ross's roommate. Their relationship took a romantic turn when they slept together in London, and they eventually got married. Chandler also has a complex relationship with his best friend, Joey, whom he supports financially for many years.
Trivia
Chandler is the only one among his friends who knows all the state capitals. He is also the only one who doesn't have any siblings. He is afraid of dogs and his favorite movie is Die Hard.
