Introduction

Bauxite Mining

This is achieved through the Hall-Héroult process, which involves dissolving alumina in a molten electrolyte and passing an electric current through it. The resulting reaction separates the aluminium from the oxygen in the alumina, producing pure aluminium metal.

Pure aluminium is often alloyed with other metals to enhance its properties. The process of aluminium alloy production involves melting the aluminium and adding the alloying elements in a controlled manner. The resulting alloy is then cast into the desired shape and allowed to cool.
Environmental Impact

These include the destruction of natural habitats due to bauxite mining, the release of greenhouse gases during smelting, and the generation of red mud, a toxic by-product of the Bayer process. Efforts are ongoing to mitigate these impacts through improved technology and better environmental management practices.
