99th Air Base Wing
Overview
The 99th Air Base Wing (99 ABW) is a non-flying wing of the United States Air Force that provides a wide array of services to support the mission of Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The 99 ABW is part of the Air Combat Command (ACC) and is responsible for the base's daily operations, enabling the Air Force to train, educate, and innovate for global dominance.
History
The 99th Air Base Wing has a rich history that dates back to its activation in 1942 as the 99th Bombardment Group during World War II. The group was initially equipped with B-17 Flying Fortress bombers and was tasked with strategic bombing missions over Europe.
Structure
The 99th Air Base Wing is composed of four groups, each responsible for specific aspects of base operations. These include the 99th Mission Support Group, the 99th Medical Group, the 99th Security Forces Group, and the 99th Civil Engineer Squadron.
Mission and Responsibilities
The primary mission of the 99th Air Base Wing is to provide installation support for more than 10,000 personnel assigned to Nellis Air Force Base. This includes infrastructure maintenance, security, medical services, and logistical support.

Throughout its history, the 99th Air Base Wing has been recognized for its outstanding performance and contributions to the Air Force's mission. The wing has received numerous awards and decorations, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross.
