== Career at the House of Wisdom ==

In the early 9th century, al-Khwarizmi moved to [[Baghdad|Baghdad]], the capital of the [[Abbasid Caliphate|Abbasid Caliphate]], where he was appointed as a scholar at the [[House of Wisdom|House of Wisdom]]. This was a major intellectual center during the Islamic Golden Age, where scholars from various disciplines such as astronomy, mathematics, and philosophy, gathered to translate and develop scientific knowledge.
