Overview
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a public research university located in Singapore. It is the second oldest public autonomous research university in Singapore, with roots tracing back to 1955. History
NTU's history can be traced back to 1955 when Nanyang University (Nantah) was set up. Nantah was the first university in the region to use Chinese as the medium of instruction. In 1980, Nantah merged with the University of Singapore to form the current National University of Singapore (NUS). In the same year, Nanyang Technological Institute (NTI), a tertiary institution affiliated to the National University of Singapore, was set up on the former Nantah campus.
In 1991, NTI was upgraded to a university, becoming the Nanyang Technological University. Since then, NTU has grown rapidly, expanding its course offerings and research capabilities.
Campus
