Guam Community College
History
Guam Community College (GCC) was established in 1977 to provide vocational and technical education to the residents of Guam, a U.S. territory in the western Pacific Ocean. The institution was created by Public Law 14-77, which merged the existing Guam Vocational Technical High School and the Adult Education Program. This merger aimed to enhance the quality and accessibility of vocational education on the island, thereby addressing the workforce needs of the local economy.
Over the years, GCC has expanded its curriculum and facilities to accommodate a growing student population and evolving educational demands. The college has undergone several phases of development, including the construction of new buildings, the introduction of new programs, and the enhancement of existing ones. These efforts have been supported by funding from both local and federal sources, including grants from the U.S. Department of Education.
