The Evergreen State College
History
The Evergreen State College, often simply referred to as Evergreen, is a public liberal arts and sciences college located in Olympia, Washington. Established in 1967, the college was envisioned as an experimental and non-traditional educational institution. The founding faculty and staff sought to create a unique learning environment that emphasized interdisciplinary study and collaborative learning.
Evergreen officially opened its doors to students in 1971, with an inaugural class of approximately 1,000 students. The college's curriculum was designed to be flexible and student-centered, with a focus on independent study and the integration of theory and practice. Academics
