History
The Detroit Tigers are a professional baseball team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball (MLB), having been founded as a charter member of the American League in 1901. The team has had a storied history, with periods of success interspersed with periods of struggle.
The Tigers have won four World Series championships (1935, 1945, 1968, and 1984) and have made the playoffs numerous times. Some of the most notable players in baseball history have worn the Tigers' uniform, including Ty Cobb, Hank Greenberg, Al Kaline, and Miguel Cabrera.
Team Identity
The Detroit Tigers' team colors are navy blue, orange, and white. The team's logo, an old English "D", has been in use since the early 20th century. The team's mascot is a tiger named Paws.
Ballpark
The Tigers play their home games at Comerica Park, which opened in 2000. Prior to that, the team played at Tiger Stadium (previously known as Briggs Stadium) from 1912 to 1999.
