Richard Neal
Early Life and Education
Richard Edmund Neal was born on February 14, 1949, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He grew up in a working-class neighborhood, where he was raised by his maternal grandmother after the death of his parents. Neal attended Holyoke Community College before transferring to American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1972. He later obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Hartford in 1976.
