Savannah Guthrie
Early Life and Education
Savannah Clark Guthrie, born on December 27, 1971, in Melbourne, Australia, where her father was stationed for work. Her family moved back to the United States and spent most of her childhood in Tucson, Arizona.


Guthrie graduated from Amphitheater High School in Tucson. She then attended the University of Arizona, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1993. After working in the field for several years, Guthrie decided to pursue a law degree. She attended Georgetown University Law Center, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2002.
Career
Early Career
Guthrie began her broadcasting career at ABC affiliate KMIZ, in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked for two years before returning to Tucson and joining NBC affiliate KVOA in 1995. After five years in Arizona, she took a job at WRC-TV, Washington, D.C., where she covered major stories including the September 11, 2001, attack on The Pentagon and the 2001 anthrax attacks.
Legal Career
While working as a broadcast journalist, Guthrie became interested in law. After earning her Juris Doctor from Georgetown, she spent two years as a litigation associate with the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where she worked on white-collar criminal defense cases.
NBC News
In 2007, Guthrie returned to television journalism, joining NBC News as a legal affairs correspondent. Her work included reporting on trials and serving as a correspondent for the Supreme Court. In 2011, she became a co-host of the third hour of NBC's morning show, Today, and in 2012, she became the co-anchor of Today, a position she holds to this day.
Personal Life
Guthrie married BBC News presenter Mark Orchard in 2005, but the couple divorced in 2009. In 2014, she married communications consultant Michael Feldman. The couple has two children, Vale and Charles.
Awards and Recognition
Over the course of her career, Guthrie has received several awards and recognitions. She was part of the Today team that won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Morning Program in 2011 and 2012. In 2017, she was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.
