History
The Central University of Ecuador (Spanish: Universidad Central del Ecuador) is a national university located in Quito, Ecuador. It is the oldest university in Ecuador, established on October 18, 1826, and one of the oldest institutions of higher education in South America. The university was initially founded as the Santo Tomás de Aquino Seminary by the Dominican Order, which was later secularized and renamed as the Central University of Ecuador.
